About the role:

The job will involve most or all of the following activities for all of AMCA (including, Mutual Funds, PIC and Institutional):


  • Generate reports supporting Business As Usual activities of various departments and functions of AMCA
  • Consult with stakeholders and IT/vendors to determine data requirements and data availability
  • Generate data from relevant HSBC systems as well as external sources, design, conduct analysis, implement and document analytical solutions
  • Participate in the design and delivery of reporting applications
  • Conduct analysis to detect trends and anomalies from both internal and external sources.
  • Suggest remedial actions or escalate detections which give cause for concern
  • Share information with stakeholders in suitable forms, these may be charts, tables or templates
  • Participate in forums, meetings or events to interpret data and support decision making

The role holder will support HSBC Global Asset Management (Canada) Limited to maximize the understanding of its data through the use of analysis in identifying new opportunities and supporting strategies to achieve business objectives. They will be responsible for developing and executing analytical initiatives as directed, implement best solution within systems and satisfying requirements from stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with departmental SMEs to understand business requirements, data structures, definitions and various data sources
  • Build and share dashboards and reports for management information and other purposes
  • Perform quality control on generated results to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Proactively identify business opportunities and issues
  • Conduct regular analytics on current result or trends internally and in the industry
  • Perform industry benchmarking where required
  • Ensure global data policies and standards are adhered to
  • Checking the appropriateness of all analysis requests to ensure business units are making the best possible decisions based on known information. Puts forward own ideas and suggestions.
  • Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and ensure work is prioritized according to business need and opportunity. Deliver analytical projects on time and to budget.
  • Support HSBC’s customer management strategy through providing appropriate insight
  • Key business contact for functional area, building good working relationships with stakeholders
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers (internal and external) and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Advise other business users on analytical techniques, tools and technologies
  • Encourage and enable constructive cross-department teamwork by demonstrating collaboration.
  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork and collaboration by sharing knowledge and identifying training opportunities with team members.
  • Provide technical leadership and support technical excellence by searching out external best practice, monitoring technical and professional developments, sharing knowledge and encouraging others to do the same in the best interests of HSBC and its customers
  • Work alongside with global functional team to apply consistent practice and promote best practice
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Develop and recommend changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and best practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and market best practice.
  • Development and execution of Data Profiling and Data Quality measurement solutions, and governance of critical data entities
  • Communicate and adhere to HSBC policy and procedures in order to ensure good operational, financial, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of a management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
Requirements

Experience / Education


  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Management Information Systems, Computing Science or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of creating and delivering Analytical Insight and Business Intelligence.
  • Experience as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst in a financial services organization or other regulated industry.
  • Database languages like SQL and programming language like Python, R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik or others.
  • Working experience with third party service providers like Google Cloud Platform as asset.
  • Knowledge of statistical models and data mining training an asset.
  • Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable, inquisitive nature with the ability to pursue lines of inquiry independently.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven track record of the ability to prioritize to meet competing deadlines.
